- M5 - Black Magic -
1st full day trainin since interschool today. broke up with M3 le =P sailed M5 aka Black Magic for the whole day today. sry for those no sailing de but dis post will include alot of technical terms. i try to put in as much in layman terms ok...start from morning. wind was considerably light coz it rained in the morning b4 we came. den went to rig n found out how heavy M5 was. took damn long to rig up as every1 confirm rusty liao including myself. although when i say i rusty doesnt i mean i forgot how to rig. it juz means i cant rig finish under 15min with all the equipment arnd. open the cabinet to my old VS life jacket to realise it was like shit, literally. think got some kinda infestation of something dunno wad. rats? =X washed it up n din feel like using it for the day. instead used 1 of the newer life jackets which mr aidil brought. felt wierd sailing the whole day without the orange whistle i have in my old VS de jacket. used to fiddle with it if i was bored out at sea.
so wee lee wanted us to get our feel back in the morning. juz sailed n tack lor. alot in fact. he wanted us to do 50 tacks but it was seriously too little in my opinion to get back ur own feel. would take at least 200. either way im tryin a new way of tackin since its obviously more efficient den my current style. my current de is lean with both feet at hiking strap to induce heel of boat for role tack. den sorta jump over n heel to flatten the other side. however, now i wanna try use 1 foot to lean while the other 1 above the hiking strap. dis is to be able to turn it in such a way dat when i move over, the feet is under the hiking strap n i can hike str8 after i go over. ok if its juz too confusing juz ask me lah. u noe im not gd with words.
but den dis post was titled dis way for a reason. coz the morning wind was light n i couldnt feel it. but when uncle tonny trainin came it came to me naturally. i noe y M5 is so gd now. bet u must be tinkin aiya HH say M5 gd tok crap 1 lah. no evidence to support. i got evidence my fren.
morning wind was light so i sailed it like any other of the skool boats. but den wee lee came to my boat while i was goin back to shore during the rain n told me M5 was not performing as well as the other boats n told me to not use it for competitions even though naiyu they all sorta brainwash him into M5 being the best boat of all MJC lasers. den afternoon came. wind was moderate with choppy waves. the moment uncle tonny blew his whistle for us to do pacing practice i felt it str8 away. M5 is retardedly stable (dun even noe the best description for it). it was unlike M1 M3 M4 n M7 which i sailed b4 which gets beaten up v badly in choppy conditions. somehow M5 could go through the waves n there was v little rocking throughout. still dun get it?
black magic was made in europe for the heavier sailors with stronger and more choppy waves dat they have to handle. thus it was a heavier boat made for moderate n strong conditions so dat the waves would not deplete its forward momentum dat easily. however the newer boats were made lighter becoz Asian sailing was coming up. Asia has generally lighter wind compared to the European countries and such a heavy boat would juz suck in light wind. thus in light wind i couldnt feel its hidden potential but flew away in the moderate wind today. tell u honestly i wouldnt have open such a gap if I used M3 honestly coz the bytes we sailed with today have some standard 1 noe. for Laser sailors who still dun believe wad i say, I can let u use M5 in moderate wind n im sure u wanna steal it from me liao. of course i wont let u steal it from me =P a day with it would be fine though. juz dun make another mast crack. den enlarge it by sailing so violently like me today =X
lol today oso 1st sat sea trainin with no dinner! i ask for it somemore. 1 church de go church. family orientated de go home eat. so obvious i family-oriented oso rite but my parents lemme go eat with them since we have dinner 6 times a week n with J2s only once. its not everyday u get to hang out with a great bunch of seniors u noe. the J2s 1st 2 sea trainings always complainin y i nv go eat dinner with them. so i decided to join them for every dinner since my 3rd sea trainin in MJC. looks like no more dinners liao. so come back n sail with us soon!
got dis feelin i like bonded so much more to J2s den J1s since I was the only J1 stickin arnd to them almost throughout my whole 1st yr sailing in MJC. but i must admit i learnt alot from them throughout dis time n alot of nonsense which i dunno of at dinner. used to enjoyed myself chattin with them n reachin home bout 9pm den go slp str8 away.
alot of things comin up recently so bz for dunno wad again even though its not bout studies. haiz see how it goes lor...
